Happy Holidays From Daikon Family

Hello to everyone! This time of year, the daikon family is all together. Even rowdy Sakurajima Daikon-san has come back to visit us. Tonight we will prepare some home-made mochi to eat on New Years Eve. It is his favorite. Happy holidays from us!

Ancient Daikon

Can you read ancient Greek? This stone says that this is the site of an ancient Daikon Patch. I wonder if I can find a statue of an ancient daikon?

A Travelling Daikon

In Japan we have the saying "井の中の蛙大海を知らず" (i no naka no kawazu taikai o shirazu). This means that the frog in a well does not know the great sea. Sometimes when I spend too many days on the Tokyo Subway, I feel a bit like the frog. So to feel better, I have started a small trip to some ancient places. Come sea the great sea with me!

For a Japanese Daikon the sea is very beautiful. Here in Greece I like to sit on the rocks and write a Haiku poem. If you like Japanese Haiku, please share with me.

Island of Calm

Russia is not an easy place for a Japanese Daikon. So I was very happy to find this restaurant. The name is Wabi Sabi in Russian language. Wabi Sabi is my motto. Some people say this means the Japanese artistic sense of impermanence, simplicity, imperfection and balance. I don't know much about this. But they did have good noodles.

Out for a Drink in Albania

Although 0-sake (or nihonshuu) is my favorite, I also like to drink beer. My friend Sakurajima Daikon and I sampled some of the local variety in Albania.

Beautiful church in Red Square with onion domes. They remind me of Sakurajima Daikon. I wish he was here.
